Garden 2024<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

We are thrilled to share some wonderful news about our school garden! We entered the Cork School
\nGarden Competition for 2024 and the Award Ceremony took place on the 17th June in Cork County
\nHall. We were delighted to win Best in Category for Biodiversity Colour and Art.
\nThe Garden committee consisted of pupils from third to sixth class and they stayed after school
\nduring the year to work in the garden. They have been very busy preparing the soil for planting,
\nsowing the plants, weeding, watering the plants and painting the tyres, fences and bench.
\nWe have grown a variety of fruits and vegetables such as strawberries, beetroot, cabbage, tomatoes,
\nradishes, French beans, peas, lettuce, lots of herbs and much more. We have also planted
\nwildflowers around the garden to help save the bees.
\nWe will be selling our produce on the 20th June at 1:40pm and 2:40pm.

Garden 2019<\/strong><\/span>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/h1>\n

The polytunnel arrived on February 6th 2019!<\/p>\n

\u00a0Garden 2018<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

We have been very busy working in the School Garden in the last few months. The boys and girls in St. Colman’s prepared the beds for planting.\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We planted seeds in small pots in our classrooms, we then transplated the crops to the beds in the garden. We have herbs, lettuce, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and peas growing in our garden.\u00a0 We also planted flowers around the school.\u00a0 Boys and girls from 2nd to 6th Class stayed after school for an hour on Tuesdays to work in the garden with Ms Hanley, Mr Quinlan, Ms McCarthy, Ms Beecher and Ms Bresnihan. Ms Power’s Senior Infants decorated the garden with their “Cloyne Rocks”, thank you to our wonderful parents, Carol, Anne Marie and Margaret for helping.<\/p>\n

A big thank you to Sarah Moynihan for donating her profits from the Garden Stand she had at the St. Colman’s’ Parents Association\u00a0Sports Day on June 10th.<\/p>\n

On June 12th, the judges from Muintir na\u00a0T\u00edre visited St. Colman’s School Garden. They were delighted with the work we have done and gave us an invitation\u00a0to attend Muintir na\u00a0T\u00edre Garden Awards Ceremony in County\u00a0 Hall on Monday, June 18th. We are very excited!<\/p>\n
